Scientology Volunteer Ministers Bring the Yellow Tent to Milan
MILAN — 22 January 2026 — The Scientology Volunteer Ministers have brought their distinctive Yellow Tent to Milan, creating a public, walk-up space for hands-on assistance and listening support, alongside everyday “Tools for Life” that can be applied to real-life difficulties. Already seen in major cities such as New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Rome and Naples, the Yellow Tent is designed to let residents speak with trained volunteers and learn simple steps for communication breakdowns, workplace stress and conflict resolution, as well as support after personal emergencies.
Volunteer Ministers are community volunteers trained through 19 introductory “Tools for Life” courses covering communication, study and learning methods, interpersonal relations and problem-solving. The approach is personal and practical: identify the issue and offer a step that can be used immediately.
In Italy, Volunteer Ministers have supported communities during news eu commission major emergencies including L’Aquila (2009) and Emilia-Romagna (2012), and have also assisted during flooding in the Marche region (2022) and Romagna (2023), working alongside local institutions and civil protection actors to help remove mud and debris and restore access.
In Milan, activity expanded during the pandemic period with sanitisation initiatives and distribution of basic necessities. Organisers say volunteers then continued with neighbourhood support, including more than 160 consecutive Saturdays of clean-up and assistance, extending across all nine municipalities of the city, while also contributing to solidarity efforts such as supporting aid shipments to Ukraine.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and the United Nations, said: “Across Europe, communities grow stronger when citizens are equipped to help each other in practical ways—calmly, respectfully and without prejudice. Their work reflects a civic principle: support starts with listening and providing tools that help people regain the ability to act and contribute.”
